As the summer glow subsides and the first hues of autumn begin to appear, the bigmouthmedia newsletter takes it upon itself to add a weekly dollop of sunshine into your inbox with the richest pickings from the week's online news. And August certainly hasn't disappointed, as the big three - Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft - up the ante once more for online dominance as we approach the last third of the year.
Last week's Search Engine Strategies conference in San Jose was awash with developments, but none were more intriguing than Microsoft's assertion that it plans to develop a more personal experience for Live Search users. As if in response, search giant Google has just announced the implementation of its long-awaited Search Suggest feature, a project that's been four years in waiting.
Yahoo! - who established their own search suggest feature little over a year ago - has been fine tuning the links between the web and television. Last week it announced a joint initiative with Intel to bring internet widgets to TV, while today saw the revelation that the search pioneer has teamed up with Samsung to provide integrated internet access with television sets produced by the South Korean electronics firm.
But while Yahoo! might be blurring the lines between new and old media, a bigmouthmedia survey of 100 leading British press and PR agencies has found that 79% of the industry's main figures are still to develop any online or social media services.
Mobile firms, on the other hand, are striding ahead in the attempts to strengthen their ties with leading online players. For instance, US mobile network Verizon is rumoured to be negotiating an agreement with Google - we consider the implications of such a deal for the rest of the industry.
And as Google makes changes to the coding of its pages in a bid to crack down on automated ranking checkers, it seems that the heart of the online world is still beating with frenzied vigour.
For all the latest development in the online world, be sure to keep your eyes glued to the bigmouthmedia newsletter - spreading warm joys into your life all year long.
